Each spring the DeKalb Youth Symphony Orchestra holds a concerto competition for members of the orchestra. The students a solo, duet, or trio that can be played with the orchestra. Naturally, this must be a piece which DYS already owns within their library or can purchase to add to the library. The students play for a panel of three judges who determine which concerto was the best prepared for performance. Some years there is one winner while in other years there might be two concertos performed.
